Wild Camping

Wild camping is technically illegal in Portugal in most areas, especially near the coast and in national parks. Enforcement is inconsistent but fines exist. Safest: use free motorhome aires (áreas de serviço para autocaravanas) — there are hundreds, and many are excellent.
